Culinary graduate student from istinye,
This is my message as a graduate to the new students. I joined the culinary department in the year 2019 after applying online from my country Kenya. The university responded and was very helpful especially with the complications that time to get a student visa and equivalent certificate. The foreign affairs office and student office is the most efficient and reliable.
When joining my class , i was the only foreign student and was received, welcomed and made to feel comfortable. The professors were always careful to make sure i was able to understand and move along with the classes being in a foreign language for me and always were helpful. The dean of culinary department, Professor Meryem Beykoz will forever be my first favourite model teacher and her amazing team , Professor Emrah Fandakli, Professor Duygu Toker, Professor Katya and the rest .
Life at İstinye was very comfortable. The students always could access all kinds of activities and sometimes give suggestions for events with the Ömer .
Being a foreign student at at the time of covid was difficult but istinye did not leave us alone . We were checked on through messages and calls from the university and the teachers all the time. Ömer organised online events to keep the mental health strong for their students.
I graduated in 2021 September after my internship that also was helpfully organised by the university. Our graduation was also at a difficult time during restrictions yet Istinye made it special.
I am proud to be part of istinye and wish istinye a lot more success for the great work and effort put in. Thank you !
